Welcome to my sewing journey page. My name is Ebony and I have been sewing only since March of 2013. I am the mother of 3 lovely children who are the loves of my life. I invite you to watch and share and comment on my new craft as I take the journey to teach myself to sew.

Welcome to my blog. Recently I decided to start a journey of sewing. I have always wanted to find a hobby that I really enjoyed. Last year 2012, my sister started paper crafting and I decided to jump on the bandwagon. I bought this expensive machine and tried to enjoy the craft and only found myself putting the expensive machine under my computer desk, rarely to be touched after only a few months of use.

Recently, in March I decided to buy a sewing/embroidery machine. Since then I haven't stopped experimenting with sewing and embroidery and even applique. I am determined to become an expert on my new found love of sewing. In March of 2013 I purchased a brother SE400. I love it. My only complaint is that I didn't buy a machine that had the embroidery hoop larger than 4x4. But I am happy with what I have since I am only a beginner.

Since March I have made a few garments. A skirt, a couple of dresses, and a couple of shirts and even a pair of pants for my daughter. Let me say, you can tell I am a beginner, but just like my father says, I should be happy with what I have created. And I truly am. I am determined to become an experienced seamstress.

So far I have pretty much taught myself. I usually find patterns on sale at my local Joann's craft store for .99. Generally McCall's, Simplicity or Butterick. I try not to pay more than $1.99 per pattern. I also visit my local Hancock Fabrics and still never pay over $1.99 for these patterns. I have a box full of patterns that I cannot wait to get my hands on.

Recently I have had an aunt to move to my city. She has been sewing for years, and if you were to walk into her house and see all of the self made decorations to include reupholster furniture and draperies, you probably would be just as jealous as I am. My goal is to be like her as a seamstress. I have had one lesson from her and can't wait for the others.

Well this is my first blog post and will be posting pics soon of my creations. So watch out for my fabulous creations which is the beginning of my new journey of sewing.

Thanks,

Ebony
